Some words from some of the runners of the inaugural 2011 Round The Rock event...

Digby / Lisa - better late than never, but just wanted to drop a quick line to say many thanks for organising the inaugural "Round the Rock" race the other weekend.  I can say, sans equivocation, that the race was absolutely the most brutal thing I have ever attempted.  Despite setting out with grand aspirations of averaging ~10 min miles, I (and my training buddy, Paul) was unbelievably relieved just to finish!!  That said I think I'm properly prepared to tackle anything now, so busy planning my next mid-life crisis event!!

Many thanks, once again and next time I look forward to seeing Jersey in a slightly more relaxed manner!

P.S.  Digby, you'll be delighted to know that the wives took advantage of our inability to move quickly and got a day's shopping in on the Monday!!

Hi to all the organizers and helpers a big thank you for "Round the Rock".A spectacular run ,and a . great group of other runners .The support from the check points and other individuals was great.. l was so pleased l entered

I would just like to extend my thanks to all of you who put together the race and made it such a success on the day. Also a massive thanks to all the volunteers at the aid stations who were always encouraging and massively helpful. The welcome provided by you all was something every race should model themselves on.

Thanks for the experience and I look forward to next years date for another hit of pain and suffering!!!

Thank you so much for your hard work in organising such an amazing race.  It made my legs scream for mercy but the scenery, challenge, sense of achievement and most of all the warmth and support of your team made the heart leap with joy!

I hope you've all been able to recharge your batteries after all your work - the event preparation must have been far more of a challenge than the 48 miles was for us.

It was a wonderful event.  Thank you very much.

Please also thank Craig for his running advice and let him know I've been for a very enjoyable and eye-opening initial 5 minute run in my evoskins!

What a weekend!! I wanted to send you a little note to thank you for such a fantastic event on Saturday. I had a chat to quite a few fellow competitors and everyone had a brilliant day out. The website was very informative (including all the links to newsletters and advise on training) in the run up to the event, and emails with updates, as well as the race entry confirmation, went a long way to making me feel part of this very special event. Certainly Woody and Cliff had a great day out and I know we’re all keen to race again next year (we can’t stop talking about ultra running and trail running).

Thank you and the whole team for organising the race, [we] thoroughly enjoyed.....crossing the finishing line! As you can see in the pic's. Come to think of it, everybody was smiling at that point!

It was our first Ultra and quite a challenge for us over 50's

Just think I never even wanted to do 26 miles before this! Now I just have to work on my pace!....for October, maybe!

Once again a BIG THANKS to you all for the encouragement along the way and well done on making the day so enjoyable.

Many thanks for the Round the Rock event, it was fabulous. The legs are in pretty good order and hopefully will be ready for a 10 mile fell race over Dartmoor in Devon next Saturday. I suspect they will last out until the last 2 miles of downhill when I think they might go into spasm.

I don't think I can think of many improvements you can make to the event. The waymarks are good but maybe the ribbon could do with being a bit longer so that it trails in the breeze a bit more. Will be more visible for those of us with poorer eyes!

The water stops were fine and well placed

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who was involved in organising and helping at the race! All the organisers and people at the aid stations were so helpful, caring and friendly - it really made the whole day extremely special! Congratulations on such a great first race!

As a runner for more than 35 years and innumerable events on the track, road, trail and country the Round the Rock was one of the most memorable events I have ever competed in...the challenge, location , organisation and the sheer goodwill expressed by all involved..quite brilliant. I am looking forward to next year already.

Kind regards and thanks to all who made this happen.

First, I have to say thank you for a brilliantly well organised event - especially as it was the inaugural one.  The weather helped, of course, but everyone I spoke to, both on the route and after, was full of praise for the whole event.  From the friendliness of everybody, the calmness and the willingness of the helpers at the checkpoints to ensure a smooth and safe passage through and for good value for money and a great T shirt, it was an awesome day.

What was unique, and I have experienced this in extreme open water swimming too, was the camaraderie on the course both from fellow runners and spectators who patiently applauded everyone whilst waiting for their runners to come through.  Even people not involved in the race at all but aware, in various locations, that this was not simply a 10 km fun run, offered words of encouragement.  Born through shared extreme physical adversity, it transcends what you find in half or full marathons and rises to a different level.

What a course and what great organisation, communication and care was taken of us all! A great team effort and I'm sure an event that can grow.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic event, absolutely loved it! There wasn't one thing I could fault with the organisation of the event & the checkpoints were brilliantly manned with such helpful people to fill up bottles & camelbacs etc, thankyou.

I will definitely be doing this event next year & look forward to getting the date for my diary :)

Well done again on a fantastic event.

Well done guys on laying on a great race this weekend.  I've run loads of ultras, and Jen was running her first - but we ran round together and we had a real mix of experience going into it.

Both of us thought the course was first class and route markings (particularly with Digby going round again and re-marking it) made it a much more enjoyable experience than if we'd be struggling to find our way.   Can you pass on our thanks to the volunteers at the CP's and the finish; really made all the difference.

Look forward to coming back next year

I just wanted to send a quick email to say a massive thankyou to you and the rest of the team. It was a fantastic event to be part of and all the other runners i spoke seemed to have a great time too, so you should all be very proud of your efforts in making the race such a success.

It takes hours and hours of unseen work for many months to put something like this together and to make the experience for the runners what it was, so thankyou again for all your hard work, and (if i'm allowed!) i'll be back next year.
